Going into the 24-25 season we will be continuing to have trials for our teams. Trial dates will be 29th & 30th of June and the 13th & 14th of July. You do not have to attend both weekends of trials, but can if you wish as this will give coaches a better chance to get to know the players trialling. Bookings for the trials on the 13th and 14th of July will go live towards the mid June.

What team should my child be trying out for?

Junior players should trial for the age group they are going into. The team you try out for depends on the age you are on the 1st of September. For example:

If you are currently 10 but only turn 11 in October, you should try out for the U11s.

If you are currently 12/13, and only turn 13/14 at the end of September, then you should try out for the U14s.

Under Basketball Sussex, girls can play an age group down with approval, so please do reach out to us if this is something you'd like to discuss.

 

I was on a team this year, am I guaranteed a place next season?

While we would love to offer every child who wants to play basketball a place, we are afraid that if you have previously had a space on a team, this does not necessarily guarantee a place on a team next season. All teams running and places available depends on how many coaches we have, hall space available and other factors.

How will players be selected?

All our coaches will liaise together and players will be selected on the following:
1.    Attitude and behaviour in training and at games
2.    Commitment to training
3.    Well rounded basketball performance/potential 
4.    Commitment and availability to both home and away games

When will I find out if I / my child made the team?

We will be endeavouring to let all participants know whether they made teams or not before the end of July. With a lot of administration to do, please bear with us!  Thank you
